Founder and Smartie

Class Teacher

Tracy Fowler

With 29 years of teaching experience, I am proud to be the founder and owner of our beloved nursery school. As a mother of two grown children, I've dedicated my career to early childhood education, watching our small playgroup grow into the nurturing environment it is today. I've always known I wanted to keep my school small and personal, creating a home away from home for every child.

Teaching has always been in my blood. As the youngest of three, I spent my childhood teaching my dolls and soft toys, a passion that has only grown stronger over the years. Children nourish my soul, and I resonate deeply with their innocence and purity. I believe in shaping little minds by building a strong foundation based on love, nurturing, and embracing the simplicity of being a child.

At our school, every child is seen as an individual, not just a little robot functioning at the same level. I love all the different personalities and believe in learning through play and fun. Our gentle and flexible approach ensures that each child’s first experience of school is a positive one, filled with love and conducive to learning.

I hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Early Childhood Development and a BEd Honours in Inclusive Education. Throughout my career, I've been known by many names—Teacher Trac, Mommy, Trac, Tracy, and even "School," a name affectionately given to me by a little girl many years ago. Her mother told her she was coming to school, and I happened to be the first person she saw every day, hence adopting this wonderful name.

My passion for teaching has always driven me, and I'm committed to creating an environment where each child can thrive and feel cherished. Welcome to our small, nurturing school—a true home away from home

I have a diploma in Modern Montessori Early Childhood Development and 25 years of experience in preschool education. Since 1999, I have taught all preschool age groups, showing my dedication and love for teaching. I even had the joy of running my own preschool from 1999 until 2002.

I love being with the children so much that I also handle the extended aftercare hours at Tiddlers and Toddlers. I see this school as a home away from home and take great joy in seeing the kids' progress.

Teaching is my passion and what I believe I was born to do. I find it incredibly rewarding to help pre-schoolers grow and develop.

Gummy Bear Assistant

Mpume Khumalo

I began working with children in 2013 at OPT Baby as an assistant. Moving to Baby Steps in 2016, I continued to learn and grow through my experiences with the children. I have also taught Zulu lessons on occasion. In 2022, I joined Tiddlers and Toddlers, where I currently work as an assistant in the Gummy Bear Class.

I absolutely love working with the younger children; they never fail to put a smile on my face. My passion for children extends beyond the classroom, as I even spend my spare time babysitting when I am not at school.
